Valley Highlands

Our Scout group is part of the Valley Highlands area. The area runs training courses, operates the Whispering Pines camp. The documents listed below are not the complete set, just what are currently available to us.

Cub Winter Challenge

• Each year Valley Highlands runs a winter activity day for the Cubs.

  The 2008 & 2009 events were also held at Whispering Pines.

  The 2007 event was again held at Whispering Pines. Tobogganing, hiking, and fire lighting were the main attractions. We only had six Cubs in attendance, but they all had a great time.

  The 2006 event was a great success, with the event staged at Whispering Pines for the first time. 2^nd Almonte, 1^st Drummond, 1^st Merrickville, and 2^nd Smiths Falls contributed a total of 41 Cubs. Events included ice fishing, heavy toboggan haul, tobogganing, fire lighting, and a seal race with ice rescue techniques. Warm weather made for a very wet environment, with the resulting trials and tribulations of keeping the Cubs warm. All the Cubs went home tired and happy.
